Third Annual International Muslim Jewish Conference 8th – 15th of July

The third annual Muslim Jewish Conference (MJC) will be held in Bratislava, Slovakia from 8th – 15th of July 2012. The Conference will host 100 students, young professionals, and emerging leaders from more than 35 countries representing a diverse array of professional, civic and political fields. These leaders and parents of tomorrow will join together as they step beyond the boundaries of miscommunication and build a new language of mutual respect.

Participants have been selected to work in seven committees on projects focusing on issues such as Islamophobia, Anti-Semitism and will collaborate on an interfaith art exhibit, a Muslim-Jewish business venture and more.

“The next generation is often quoted, blamed or called upon. At the MJC the next generation just wants to get it right. There is no one telling us what to do, or with whom to speak. We are a grassroots movement. That is why it works.” said Ilja Sichrovsky, Founder and Secretary General of the not for profit organization.

The MJC is supported by Rabbi Andrew Baker, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Personal Representative on Combating Anti-Semitism; Sebastian Kurz, the Austrian State Secretary for Integration; Andre Azoulay, Senior Advisor to King Mohammed VI of Morocco; Chief Rabbi David Rosen, long-term Liaison to Pope Johannes Paul II and one of the few Jews ever knighted by the Vatican, Sally A. Painter, former Senior Advisor to President Bill Clinton; and Dr Mustafa Ceric, Grand Mufti of Bosnia Herzegovina.

MJC is further supported by several institutions and organizations including: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Austria & Slovakia, the City of Bratislava, the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations (UNAOC), the European Union of Jewish Students (EUJS) and the World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS). The project is mainly funded by the `Karl Kahane Foundation´ and the `Stanley and Marion Bergman Family Charitable Fund´.
